Organising the perfect Christmas party in Cheshire

Friday, October 18th, 2013

When organising the perfect Christmas party it is important to plan ahead for the big event. Many venues get booked up early so if you have one in mind make sure you get in there and book in plenty of time to avoid disappointment. If you are also looking to book a live band or DJ make sure you book them early as all the good shows & DJs  start getting booked from September and sometimes a lot earlier.

So if you have been put in charge of organising the Christmas party here are some things you may want to consider:

  • Have a budget in mind – First on the list when organising your Christmas event is to keep your budget in mind so you can make more informed decisions.
  • Create a guest list ASAP – Keep in mind how many guests will be attending. This will help with making important decisions such as the venue – no point in looking at venues that won’t be able to cater to enough people.
  • Consider the type of event you are planning – Is it a sit down meal you’re after? Or just somewhere casual to have a few drinks with your friends, family or colleagues? Or may a disco or some entertainment? Ask around the guests you plan to invite first, it’s important to try and cater for as many people as you can e.g. if there are lots of guests that will be driving maybe it’s best to go for a sit down meal.

  •  Choose your venue – Many venues are booked up early on in the Christmas party season so the key is to choose your venue early and book as soon as you have a rough idea of how many guests will be attending.
  • Set a date – Once you’ve decided on your venue set a date based on the availability of the venue. Again, the sooner you set the date the better.
  • Theme? – After working hard all year round the Christmas party is the one day in the working calendar you can let your hair down! So why not have add a theme to your event? Ideas can include decorating your venue to fit in e.g. winter wonderland, Hawaiian Luau etc. It might also be fun to include a dress code to your theme. If considering a dress code make sure you inform your guests in plenty of time to give everyone enough time to organise their costume or outfit

  • Food & Drink – Again budget is key here as well a rough idea of how many guests will be attending. It’s worth deciding early on whether you want a sit down meal or something less formal. Maybe an open bar with a few nibbles on the tables?
  • Invites – A good time to start thinking of invites is around October/November time. This way you will have a good idea of how many guests to expect. Be sure to include all details e.g. time, date and venue address, menu, dress code etc.
  • Music One of the most important things to consider when planning the party of the year is your choice of music. Getting a great DJ can make your event really hop, and provide a great amount of Christmas Cheer. Get it right with Floorfillas who can provide you with all the music and atmosphere you need.

If it’s a big event you’re planning,  you may want to consider a few special extras. Floorfillas provide these special extras such as VIP Red carpet entrance to the venue, Projected videos with Christmas messages, ambient lighting, and your own special messages to your guests projected onto the walls of the venue.

There are some great venues in the Cheshire area for you to choose from, here are just a few:

Creamfields: The History & Highlights

Monday, August 19th, 2013

We’re eagerly looking forward to Creamfields 2013, coming up this August bank holiday, right in our own backyard. Creamfields has been going strong since 1998 and we thought we’d take a moment to have a brief look back through the more memorable moments of one of the UK’s best music festivals.

1998: The Birth of Creamfields

1998 saw the very first Creamfields festival in Winchester, featuring Run DMC, Primal Scream, Daft Punk and Sasha. In 1999 the festival moved to Liverpool. It wasn’t until 2006 that Creamfields found its current home, in Daresbury, Cheshire

Creamfields Around The World

Creamfields is now an international event with festivals all over the world in countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Peru, Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.

Creamfields Awards and Recognition

Creamfields has been voted ‘Event Of The Year’ by Muzik Magazine, ‘Best Event’ by The Guardian newspaper, ‘Best Dance Festival’ by the UK Festival Awards, ‘Festival Of The Year’ in the House Music Awards, ‘Tourism Event Of The Year’ by VisitLiverpool and ‘Festival Of The Year’ in the Music Week Awards.

Creamfields Lineup

This year, Creamfields has another impressive lineup including The Prodigy, Tiesto, David Guetta and Sebastian Ingrosso. Past lineups have included Basement Jaxx, the Pet Shop Boys, Underworld, Faithless, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Kasabian

Camping at Creamfields

2008 was the 10-year anniversary of the festival and saw the event extending to 2 days and including camping. In 2012, bad weather led to the first ever cancellation of the final day of Creamfields. To avoid this from happening this year, the festival organisers have spent £500,000 on site improvements and a contingency plan incase of bad weather.

You can find out more about Creamfields at the official website. Standard day tickets and hospitality camping tickets are still available from Ticketmaster, Ticketline and 3B Records.

Top 10 Party Planning Tips for Having a Great 21st Birthday Party in Cheshire or Manchester

Saturday, July 20th, 2013

There are only a handful of occasions in your life when you meet a milestone as important as turning 21. These days, there’s nothing legally significant about turning 21 in the UK – you can do pretty much you want as soon as you turn 18, but in most people’s minds, 21 is still the age marking the true start of adulthood and is worthy of an epic celebration!

A 21st birthday party is a great chance to pull out all the stops and go all out, with a birthday party that you’ll remember for years to come.

1. Pick a great venue

You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a great party venue in Cheshire or Manchester. Pubs, clubs, sports clubs and community halls are all great places to hire out for a 21st birthday party. If your birthday is in the summer, you might like to consider a garden party or celebrating outdoors, but remember that the weather in Manchester cannot be relied upon and you should always have a plan B in mind!

2. Book great entertainment

It’s the music and entertainment that really make the party so make sure you choose a professional DJ in Cheshire to make your party go with a bang. You may be tempted to cut corners when it comes to booking a DJ but remember you get what you pay for – an inexperienced DJ can easily ruin your special occasion. DJ Anton Joe of Floorfillas has many years experience working as a professional DJ in the Manchester and Cheshire areas and recently worked alongside Radio One’s Scott Mills, so you know you’ll be getting great quality entertainment.

3. Set the stage

Even the most uninspiring community centre can be transformed into an amazing birthday party venue with some creative decorations. Pinterest is great for browsing party decoration ideas and you can keep your decorating budget surprisingly low if you use a bit of creative thinking. If you’re low on ideas and crafty skills, it may be worth paying a professional to come in and transform your venue.

4. Don’t overlook lighting

One of the most vital parts of party decoration is getting the lighting right. If you book your birthday party DJ in Cheshire through Floorfillas, you’ll also have the option of upgrading to professional lighting which will really give an exclusive nightclub feel to your party.

5. Add special touches

Floorfillas can create a bespoke birthday video with photos, video clips and music of your choice and display it on the unique Video Jukebox double projection screen. This is a great way to display all those funny baby photos and embarrassing teenage snaps without trying to sellotape or blu-tack old photos to the wall.

6. Capture your memories

Hiring a professional photographer to take snaps of your and your friends enjoying the party can be a great investment and is a wonderful way to capture the atmosphere of your special night. If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to a professional photographer in Cheshire, you could leave out disposable cameras for your guests to go wild with – getting the film developed can be quite exciting!

7. Choose your soundtrack wisely

Floorfillas can provide a track listing based on your musical taste and you can choose to include any tracks that have a particular special meaning to you. It’s always a good idea to include a mix of genres that will appeal to all your guests and you may want to include some top hits from your teenage years that will bring the memories flooding back!

8. Go for finger food

Most 21st birthday parties in Manchester are not the best occasion for a sit down dinner. Buffets and finger food work best and allow your guests to eat what they choose, and help themselves. Remember to include a wide selection of different items and account for vegetarians and allergy sufferers. Food should also be clearly marked. If you’re catering for a large number of people, it’s usually easiest to employ the services of a professional caterer who has lots of experience in feeding the hoards at parties!

9. Go easy on the alcohol

Even if money is no issue, it’s generally not a good idea to provide an open bar at 21st birthday parties. To avoid the problems associated with alcohol over-indulgence, make sure that food is offered early in the evening and provide plenty of soft drinks.

10. Relax and enjoy your party!

Remember, you only turn 21 once so even if you’re a control freak usually, it’s best to let somebody else stress over the details and try to relax and enjoy it!
